Polyanionic cellulose, abbreviated as PAC, is a water-soluble polymer derived from cellulose that has been chemically reacted with carboxymethyl groups (anionic). Further purification of the product is conducted to dramatically raise the active polymer content. PAC has many applications in the oil and gas industry to control fluid loss and viscosity, as well as inhibit shale. When compared to carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) products, PAC commonly provides a higher substitution and purity degree. Generally, PAC products are free-flowing powder or granules.

      Landoil PAC-HV is a multifunctional additive. It performs as an excellent viscosifier that increases viscosity to promote better hole cleaning, and forms a protective colloid which inhibits the hydration of water sensitive formations and encourages borehole stability through filtration control. Landoil PAC-HV will enhance the lubricating properties of the fluid, and can be added to foam to improve cuttings transportation.

      Landoil PAC-LV can be used in any form of water-based drilling fluid such as saturated salt water, it aims at effectively reducing filtrate loss without raising viscosity. Landoil PAC-LV works well as an excellent shale encapsulater and inhibitor in medium to high concentrations.
